The Born Film

All about the promotional film I made for my auntie's novel

I want Scribbles in Ink to be a place for all sorts of my art, and it certainly wouldn’t be mine if it didn’t have some of my proudest work on it, which consists of the short films I have made. I’ve linked and embedded the video in this post.

If you don’t already know, my aunt Heather recently released her new novel, Born. It is absolutely incredible and very hard to put down. It made an exceptional summer read and I encourage you all to read it if you haven’t already. Before Born’s launch, Heather came to me about making a film for the book. At first this felt like a daunting task. A film about a book?? How would I do it? But of course I accepted the challenge. Heather gave me a few passages from the book and we picked the one we thought would work best for the film. Once I had a better concept for the film I got to do all the fancy filmmaking parts! This included: planning, storyboarding, set designing, location shooting, finding actors, editing and more editing. It definitely didn’t come without struggles. I hit a big road block, when realizing I actually don’t know any actors…But I overcame and ended up being super proud of the end result. Then I got the biggest privilege to be there at the film’s screening which made all the hard work worth it.
